Originally reviewed in Booklist 78:53 S 1 81, this new edition stresses the school librarian's role with regard to computers and explores evaluation and selection of hardware and software for the school and for the library media center. The first section of the book lists selection policies of 15 different school districts around the country; the second gives partial policies discussed by category (philosophy, selection aids, computer software, weeding, interlibrary loan, and so forth); the third discusses procedures and forms; and the final part is an appendix giving names of jobbers, binders, selection tools, the Library Bill of Rights, and the Students' Right to Read statement. A useful volume, especially for libraries coping with the influx of computers and software into their realm of responsibility.
