Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

Part of Blue Note's 1997 CD reissue series, this set has nine numbers taken from baritonist Gerry Mulligan's Pacific Jazz years. He meets up with trumpeter Chet Baker on two quartet numbers (including "My Funny Valentine") and in a ten-piece, joins valve trombonist Bob Brookmeyer in a quartet and a sextet (with the swinging tenor of Zoot Sims), and plays three originals in an octet arranged by Bill Holman (released originally as The Mulligan Songbook). The music is excellent, but the sequencing (which jumps around chronologically) is almost random, hitting some of Jeru's early high points almost by accident. ~ Scott Yanow
