Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

Focusing on the main branches of modern chemistry, this alphabetical reference investigates such subdivisions as analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, as well as touching on relevant topics from related disciplines, such as biochemistry, physics, molecular biology, and materials science. In some 900 articles, it discusses such subjects as chemical bonding, heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis, photochemistry, reactive intermediates, high- pressure processes, delocalization, sonochemistry, molecular orbital theory, electron transfer reaction, and light-scattering photometry. Most of the material has been previously published in the McGraw- Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, 7th ed. (1992) and in the McGraw-Hill Yearbook of Science & Technology (1992). CHOICE Review

Earlier editions of some of the titles listed here have been reviewed or briefly noted in these pages (Encyclopedia of Chemistry, 1st ed., CH, May'83; Encyclopedia of Engineering, 1st ed., CH, May'83; Encyclopedia of Environmental Science, 1st ed., CH, Apr'75 and 2nd ed., CH, Sep'80). All five are composed of articles reprinted with little change from McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology (7th ed., 1992). Libraries that own the parent set need not consider these clones, but they may have utility for collections that support study in the fields covered, especially if the parent set seems too expensive.
