For mixed chorus (SSSAAATTTBBB, with some further division), piano, harp, celesta, oboe and horn. Cover illustration by the composer.
Texts by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and music by Edward Cowie.
Fusing texts of different languages and phonic material, Gesangbuch is a symphonic poem for voices and instruments in four movements. Each movement evokes one of the four seasons through a weft of intricate tonal and non-tonal layers. A wonderful challenge for a professional or semi-professional choir.
