Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

This text provides an overview of a complex interdisciplinary field, drawing from a variety of engineering and science disciplines. It is divided into four major parts: fundamentals, current management practices, treatment and disposal methods, and site remediation.

Includes bibliographical references and index.

CHOICE Review

This new book is the most comprehensive work on hazardous waste management prepared for the senior undergraduate and first year graduate market. Chapters are included on environmental regulations, process fundamentals, fate and transport of contaminants, toxicology, pollution prevention, physiochemical processes, quantitative risk assessment, and site and subsurface characterization. Of the 17 chapters, five describe treatment and disposal methods. Although all important methods are included, the depth of treatment on many of the topics is that of an introductory work. Problems and discussion topics may be found at the end of each chapter. There are appendixes with tables of data on contaminant physical, chemical, and toxicological properties and a relatively complete index. Each chapter has references for citations and a list of important works for additional reading; however, not all of the references are complete. Recommended. General; upper-division undergraduate through professional. L. E. Erickson; Kansas State University
